W32.IRCbot Removal Instructions

WHAT IS WIN32.IRCBOT?

W32.IRCbot also known as Win32 IRC bot, is a backdoor trojan horse which was first discovered in 2002. It is a trojan horse which connects to an IRC server and performs commands given by the remote attacker. After getting connected, the attacker can then do the following:

  • Perform IRC commands
  • Execute/Terminate processes
  • Download/Copy files
  • Shutdown the infected computer

HOW TO REMOVE W32.IRCBOT?

There are two ways to remove this trojan from your computer. One is through manual deletion and the second is by scanning your computer using an antivirus program, and automatically deleting the infected files.

MANUAL REMOVAL

Removing w32 IRCbot is easy for it is a very old trojan, unlike other virus and worms. To remove this malware, it is usually enough to just have all infected files deleted. If you have windows XP (like everyone does), you should turn off system restore, so the trojan horse won’t be brought back when you do restore your computer.

USING ANTIVIRUS

Basically an updated anti-virus software can take care of this pesky trojan and most other simple worms, malwares, and viruses. I suggest you get yourself a good antivirus software like the ones I listed below.

Avast Home Edition

Avira Personal Edition

AVG Free Edition
