Corazon “Cory” Aquino is Dead



This is sad news. Corazon Cory Aquino was pronounced dead at exactly 3:18am Saturday at the Makati Medical Center. Our former president, the “yellow woman” suffered cardio-respiratory arrest. I’m sure the Filipino people will be mourning the loss of one of the Philippines’ historical leaders.

That will probably the headlines of today’s newspapers, tv news reports, and of course, Filipino blogs. We Filipinos have been praying for her since it is found out that she is suffering from colon cancer. Who would have thought that the strong-willed woman would succumb that easily?

Cory Aquino battled the Marcoses’ dictatorship during the first EDSA Revolution held in 1986. She then became the Philippine President.

Now that our former president Corazon Aquino is dead, we hope that she’s now with the late senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino. They could probably exchange notes about our country’s sorry state.

Cory Aquino, just like your husband Ninoy, you will live in our people’s hearts. And wherever you may be, the great things that you have done for our country will always be remembered.

With Corazon Aquino dead, I wonder which Aquino will follow their parent’s greatness?
