5 Reasons Why You Should Upgrade to Flickr Pro
Flickr is an image and video hosting website, web services suite, and online community platform. In addition to being a popular Web site for users to share personal photographs, the service is widely used by bloggers as a photo repository. As of November 2008[update], it claims to host more than 3 billion images.
I’ve been using Flickr since I discovered it. It’s like the Youtube of photos and it is a whole lot better than Google Image Search. I know, Flickr and the latter are two different services but I use Flickr more if I’m looking for images, especially of things or places that are unfamiliar to me. These days I’ve been using it more frequently for blogging and that is why I upgraded to Flickr Pro. I need it. I think every blogger, specifically photobloggers, should upgrade to Pro.
Here are the 5 reasons why you should upgrade to Flickr Pro:
- It’s ‘effin cheap. For real. Flickr Pro is available for only $24.95 per year. That’s merely 2 bucks a month.
- Everything is UNLIMITED. Now you can host your hi-res images all you want. With Flickr Pro, you get unlimited bandwidth and storage space for your photos and HD videos, too! Upload your home-made HD movies to your heart’s content. Also, you can create unlimited numbers of sets and collections to keep your photos organized.
- Get a nifty Flickr graph a la Google Analytics to display your account’s statistics. See how many views your photos get and find out the location of your viewers.
- Save a lot on webhosting expenses. Host some of your photos on Flickr and save precious bandwidth from your web server.
- It’s cool to have a Pro emblem next to your account name. Yup, I’m that shallow!

I am currently using flickr basic. I have half the mind to upgrade once I exceed the photo limit (100 if memory serves me right). I host all my pictures I put on my blog (resized) on my blog host, but I would have no qualms uploading a larger one on flickr. I dislike the 100mb upload quota/mth though

The upload quota is lifted once you upgraded to Pro. Another reason why I got Pro is that I use my camera a lot when I travel and flickr seems to be a good backup option. It’s really worth the $24/yr, in my opinion.
