AVG Detects iTunes as Small.bog Trojan Horse

iTunes is causing AVG to act weirdly, detecting iTunes installation files as small.bog trojan horse. If you have just updated your AVG virus definitions today, your computer may be in a conflicting state.

Good thing there is a workaround to this mess.

  • Run AVG
  • Go to Resident Shield >Manage Exceptions
  • Add Path “C:iTunes” then click OK

If, by any chance, you quarantined the misdetected installation files, follow these simple steps.

  • Run AVG
  • Go to History > Virus Vault
  • Select all iTunes files, by clicking then pressing down shift, then click Restore. (files should have the path to iTunes installation, you might not want to restore “real” quarantined virus!)

Yeah, sometimes antivirus softwares can be funny. I remember how Avira once identified my friend’s blog’s tracking script as a Trojan script. Haha.
